A free tear sheet template

A tear sheet is one product on one page: a photo, what it is, what a store pays, and how to order it. Buyers pass them around, designers pin them to a project, reps leave them on the table at a show. Fill this one in, add your photo, and save it as a PDF. Have more than one product? Add the next and they all go into one PDF, a page each.

Your photos stay on your device, and nothing you type here is sent anywhere. From the makers of Line Sheet Studio, an app for Shopify stores; the template is free wherever you sell, with nothing to sign up for.

This is the page you'll get. Change anything below and it updates here.

Add another product keeps this page and clears the product fields for the next one; your brand, contact and terms stay. Save as PDF opens your print window (pick Save as PDF as the printer): every product comes out as its own landscape page, in one file.

What goes on a tear sheet

A photo
One clean shot of the product on a plain background, big enough to see the texture. A second can show a detail or the product in a room; leave out props a buyer could think come with it.
Name and style number
The style number is what goes on the order, so it should match your line sheet and your stock.
A short description
Two or three sentences: what it is, what it's made of, and the one reason someone picks it. A buyer reads it standing up.
Size or dimensions
For furniture and lighting this comes first: a designer is checking whether it fits the room. Width, depth, height and weight.
The details your buyers ask about
Materials, care and where it's made for most things; bulb and wattage for a lamp, burn time for a candle, repeat and roll size for wallpaper, ingredients for skincare. One line each.
Colors or finishes
Every option you'll take an order for, and nothing you can't ship.
Wholesale and retail price
What a store pays you, and what it should sell for. Wholesale is often half of retail.
Minimum, case pack and when it ships
The fewest a store can order, how many come in a pack, and a ship window for stock or a lead time in weeks for made to order.
Your contact, on every page
A tear sheet travels on its own, out of the folder and onto someone's desk. If your email isn't on it, the order has nowhere to go.

A tear sheet or a line sheet?

A line sheet shows the whole collection on a few pages, so a store can order across it. A tear sheet gives one product a page of its own, with room for the details, so it can be pulled out and kept: for a designer's project, a buyer's meeting, the table at a show. Many brands send both. Our line sheet template and wholesale order form template use the same style numbers and prices.

Keeping them in one place

The spreadsheet has the same fields, one row per product, so your details live somewhere you can update. Word's mail merge or Canva's Bulk create can make one page per row from it.
